It was awesome taking in the Art Parade at LACMA on June 20th! Thousands must have turned out to celebrate this diverse and jubilant expression of creative spirit. So perfect for Summer Solstice eve!

Here are a few photos, including a couple of the brilliant Solstice performance by Dorado 806 Projects’ Solar Return Crew of

“LACMA turned a stretch of Wilshire Boulevard in front of its new David Geffen Galleries into a living gallery on Saturday.

The backstory: The Art Parade is the creation of gallerist Jeffrey Deitch, who first put on the event in New York’s SoHo from 2005 to 2008.

The details: The inaugural L.A. edition included 1,400 participants marching down Wilshire. There was a massive, mirrored inflatable sculpture, a custom-painted 1959 Cadillac powered by humans and an 18-piece marching band.” - LA Times
